Welcome to the home of WheelMUD, we continue to be a project dedicated to the creation of a Windows based MUD server built using .net framework 4.0 and C#
I'm in the process of moving our hardware to a rack-mounted system. Unfortunately, the server that runs the test MUD died last Friday.
I got some pretty good deals (less than $400 total) on used equipment, and that's why I decided to move our stuff to true server systems. Right now WheelMUD backends are running on old desktop computers re-purposed for server duties.
Here's the hardware that's getting delivered:
The website is running on a dedicated commercial host, so it won't go down while this maintenance is happening. Here are the services that will be affected:
Thank you for your patience while this is happening.
CHANGED All projects have been migrated to .NET 4.0
This is an interim release, while we finish 0.4. This includes the binaries, and C# source code. We are including two sets of binaries: * Test Harness - Console-based UI; Double-click on WheelMUD.net.exe to start the console. * Windows Service - Self-installing service; Double-click on WheelMUDWindowsService.exe to install the service Both sets are unzip-and-run ready. The solution files, for the source zip, are in the src directory. These are now Visual Studio 2010 and Visual C# 2010 Express solutions. The binaries contain the latest version of the Universe Manager Lite. There's no source for this, because there are some commercial controls being used for it. The latest source can always be checked out from our Subversion server: svn://svn.wheelmud.net/WheelMUDSharp/trunk
We have officially migrated the WheelMUD source code to .NET 4.0. Our whole supporting stack is also running on .NET 4.0.
The technician for my ISP came by today, and replaced the power supply for their equipment. Thankfully, that didn't take long. This means that all the services on this website are now restored.
Enjoy!
We had a close call last night. There was a lightning strike very close to my house. The resulting electro-magnetic pulse (EMP) fried some equipment. The satellite dish that provides my internet connection is a gonner, and so is one of the computers in the house.
This means that part of the website are non fuctional. Here's a list of what won't work for now:
My internet provider is sending somebody sometime this Wednesday. You know how these service provider companies are; they want you to waste a whole day waiting for one of their techs to show up.
These website functions will be restored, once the satellite dish is replaced/fixed.
